A New Creature

Recently I was blessed with the opportunity to speak at a church.  In preparation for that, God brought a lot of things to my remembrance that – while incredible and life-changing – I haven’t really reflected on much over the years.  I think that’s pretty normal, the “tyranny of the urgent” tends to occupy all of our thinking and events of the past generally get pushed into the far recesses of our memory.  But I think it’s essential, especially in my own spiritual growth, to reflect on those things from time to time or at least have them brought kicking and screaming into the light of day.

Things like:

  • The man I used to be before God brought me to the end of myself
  • The events that happened during that time which proved to me beyond a shadow of a doubt God’s complete control and my own utter powerlessness
  • The man I am now and how much happier I am WITH myself because of who I am in Christ
  • The man I want to be for my wife, my children and family, and my God

All of that came bubbling to the surface at various times, both while I was preparing my remarks and while I was actually speaking.  As always, I was left with a sense of utter gratefulness.  I am a New Creature.  “Old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.”  I am not who I was, indeed, I have been reborn and adopted into the family of God.  The name of this company is New Creature Consulting for a reason – it is both as a reminder and a proclamation of that fact.  It doesn’t matter what we’ve done or how bad (or good) we think we are – God’s promise is available to all who put away their pride or shame and realize their only hope is a Savior who bled and died and was raised to life for them.

Are you a new creature?
